Basic Assumptions :

  1. God wants to reach people more than we do.

  2. It will take the whole church to take the whole gospel to the whole city, and the whole world.

  3. God has promised to convince the world that Jesus is the Son of God when there is true unity in His Body.

  4. There are two major societal structures in America today: neighborhoods (geographic) and people groups (social or work).

  5. Local churches are the most appropriate structures to reach neighborhoods.

  6. Churches do not have a very good record at evangelizing neighborhoods.

  7. It is urgent that the churches learn to cooperate in reaching neighborhoods.

  8. 80% of America’s churches are either not growing or declining.  18% are growing by transfer growth and only 2% are growing by conversion growth!

  9. Our country has become post Christian and post modern (abandoned moral absolutes) and is exceedingly vulnerable to collapse within a few years.  The Church’s response is therefore both critical and urgent.

  10. Disciples of Jesus will intentionally and specifically pray for people to come to Christ and to experience “shalom” in their lives.

  11. Disciples of Jesus will love others as themselves and will intentionally demonstrate a caring concern for those in their sphere of influence.

  12. Disciples of Jesus will respond to opportunities to communicate the gospel to others and will also take the initiative at times to do so.

  13. It would be good for the leaders of ministries sharing the same target group to get together for prayer, sharing of information and coordination of some of the activities.  This will require a partnering perspective rather than a competitive perspective and would happen gradually through growing, positive relationships between those in the various ministries.
